Football season is here which means, it’s time to host a fun and memorable game day party! There really isn’t a better excuse to throw a party than for a game day. I love that I can enjoy great company and delicious food while watching our favorite team in action.
If you’ve been visiting my blog or my Instagram for a while now, you know that I have a passion for food. It’s a major part of my life! But what you don’t know is that I’m often not able to enjoy foods like pasta with heavy sauces, pizza, salsa and any type of spicy food because of my frequent heartburn. That’s why I’m excited to partner with Nexium® 24HR Clear Minis – I no longer skip out on amazing game-time dishes! And while I enjoy all the planning and preparations of hosting a game day party, I also don’t want to miss out on socializing and enjoying the game. Who wants to be stuck in the kitchen all night? Not me! I’m about keeping my parties simple, fun, memorable and most of all, stress and heartburn-free!
Here are my quick tips for hosting a game day party:
Keep the decor simple. Trust me, you won’t want to clean it all up in the morning! I often find great party decor at my favorite party store and I like to get game day plates, napkins, and cups. I also coordinate the colors of my decor to our favorite team.
Check the TV. Make sure the TV is good to go, and in a place where everyone can see the game. If you have an extra TV, it may be ideal to have the game on in two different rooms just in case.
Make sure you have enough seating. If you are inviting a lot of guests, you want to make sure everyone has a place to sit while watching the game. Bean bags, foldable chairs, and even a mattress on the floor (for the kids of course) work great.
Have the food ready before the game. You don’t want to spend all your time in the kitchen, so make sure the food is ready before the game starts. I like serving foods that don’t need forks and spoons (i.e. finger foods) such as cut up veggies and fruits in trays, dips, BBQ sliders, chicken wings, deviled eggs, chips and salsa, crackers, cheese and cookies.

2 packages cream cheese (8 oz. each), softened
5 slices of bacon
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
¼ cup crumbled feta cheese
1 oz package of ranch seasoning mix
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
4 tbsp fresh chopped parsley
1 tbsp fresh chopped chives
1 tbsp fresh chopped green onions
¼ cup chopped pecans
Instructions
- Begin by cooking the bacon until it is nice and crispy over medium-high heat in a skillet. Set the cooked bacon on a paper towel lined plate to drain.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, cheddar cheese, feta cheese, worcestershire sauce, Ranch seasoning, chopped chives, chopped green onions, 2tbsp of the chopped parsley, and ½ of the cooked bacon crumbled. Beat the mixture on high until well combined and creamy.
- In a separate small mixing bowl, combine the other two tbsp of chopped parsley, the rest of the crumbled cooked bacon, and the chopped pecans. Stir to combine well, and set aside covered until ready to use.
- Place the cheese mixture into the fridge for 2-3 hours to set.
- Once set, form the cheese mixture into a ball, and roll it in the nut/bacon mixture until the entire outside of the cheese ball is coated.
- Serve on a plate with plenty of options for dipping, including pita chips, carrot sticks, pepper strips and sliced cucumbers.
