I don’t know about you, but I am so excited that it is officially fall which means, it’s time to experiment with some of my favorite soup and sandwich combinations! With cooler weather comes the craving for warm and comforting soups and stews.
What goes best with a homemade soup? An ooey gooey grilled cheese sandwich, of course! And as any cheese lover knows, there is never too much cheese when it comes to making one of these classic sandwiches.
One of my favorite fall themed meals that my family also loves is my extra cheesy Southwest Grilled Cheese Sandwiches.
When my boys see me pulling out Sargento® Blends™ 4 Cheese Southwest Slices, they know they’re in for a real treat.
Whether I make them as a snack or for dinner with one of my homemade soups, they’re always a big hit! I love this cheese product because of how Sargento® blends the creaminess of Monterey Jack with Chipotle Cheddar, Colby and Pepper Jack cheeses all into one delicious slice! I have also been incorporating cheeses in many of my recipes and I love the variety of sliced cheese flavors that Sargento® offers.
I find that Southwestern flavors are so delicious because of all the yummy goodness you get when combining popular Southwest ingredients like fresh tomatoes, poblano chiles, and of course, cheese. The common flavors are bold and strong and most recipes incorporate fresh cilantro and chiles in a variety of ways.
This is why my Southwest Grilled Cheese Sandwiches have the perfect mixture of rustic and spice of the Southwest. I can say, they’re really melt in your mouth sandwiches and now, they are a staple in my house!
Go ahead and give this easy recipe a try!
Sargento® Blends™ 4 Cheese Southwest Slices are easily found in the dairy aisle of your local Harris Teeter grocery store right with the rest of the pre-packaged cheese slices. Add these to your next grocery list for Harris Teeter so that you can whip up these amazing sandwiches next time you are wondering what to make for dinner. Right now, you can save $0.75 on ONE (1) Sargento® Blends™ 4 Cheese Southwest Slices (must be redeemed by 12/31/18).
Don’t forget to try my other favorite cheese slices that I also buy at Harris Teeter that I love just as much, which are the Sargento® Blends™ 5 Cheese Italian Slices. I love how Sargento® combines my favorite cheese in one 100% real, natural cheese. Only the creaminess of Mozzarella with Romano, Parmesan, Fontina, and Asiago cheeses turn a simple grilled cheese into a delicious gooey sandwich bite after bite. We sometimes combine both Sargento® Blends™ cheese slice flavors into one sandwich, then grill it and dip into our favorite tomato soup. Yum! These grilled sandwiches are perfect for quick weekend lunches too, so I try to have all the ingredients on hand for a last minute treat for the family or for when we have unexpected guests.
It used to be all about the bread. But if you ask me, it’s all about the cheese! So I invite all of you cheese lovers to add Sargento® Blends™ 4 Cheese Southwest Slices to your shopping list! Just think all the flavors you love are right there in one tasty slice! Go ahead and make these Southwest Grilled Sandwiches tonight!

Southwest Grilled Cheese Sandwiches
Ingredients
- 1 package of Sargento® Blends™ 4 Cheese Southwest Slices (I used 8 slices)
- 2 Anaheim or poblano chiles, roasted and peeled
- 2 Roma tomatoes, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons chopped cilantro
- 8 slices sourdough or multigrain bread
- 2 tablespoons butter, softened
Instructions
- Assemble sandwiches by starting with one slice of cheese on each of the 4 pieces of bread
- Top one cheese with one-fourth of chiles, tomatoes and cilantro
- Top with remaining cheese and the second slice of bread
- Lightly spread outsides of sandwiches with butter
- Grill in a nonstick skillet or griddle over medium heat until golden brown, about 3 minutes each side.
I used Hatch green chiles (medium heat) instead of plobano for more of a punch..
