Family Travel: Our Visit to Kings Dominion Spring Bloom Festival 2016

My family and I were invited to visit our top favorite theme park in Virginia: Kings Dominion Park. We were there to celebrate the opening of Kings Dominion Spring Bloom Festival.

About Kings Dominion Spring Festival

First, let me tell you the basics. This was the third year that Kings Dominion offered this fun Spring-themed festival. We love this park and we were happy to accept the invitation.  We had a lot of fun in last year’s celebration and this was the perfect Spring Break getaway for my kids!

I have mentioned this festival previously but it really makes a lot of difference when you can go and experience it for yourself.  Having my family with me made the whole experience so much more fun and oh, so full of beautiful memories!

About the Spring Bloom Festival at Kings Dominion

On Saturdays and Sundays from April 16th through May 15th, people of all ages will enjoy exploring Kings Dominion and what they have to offer during this festival of flowers, food & family fun!  Everything from live entertainment, to unique food offerings – you’ll find it at this unique festival – Spring Bloom Festival.

My boys (ages 8 and 10) aren’t much into huge thrill rides or roller coaster rides, but they still enjoyed some low to moderate thrill rides like the Linus Launcher at Planet Snoopy…

The Shenandoah Lumber Company (Log Flume)… which is always fun for the whole family. I love this ride too! We get a little wet after the ride, but not soaking wet.

The Woodstock Express…… and my kids really love the interactive dark ride experience at Boo Blasters on Boo Hill and the Dinosaurs Alive attractions at this park too!

An awesome visit with the Family!

Exploring the park especially on a gorgeous spring day is always a great experience we couldn’t have picked a better day to go! It was just perfect! 🙂

At the base of the Eiffel Tower is where the Spring Bloom Food Faire happens! Here, you can enjoy samplings of internationally inspired dishes featuring the season’s freshest, locally sourced ingredients prepared by Executive Chef Paul Maloney.  He will take you on a culinary trip around the world as you go around the food booths. There, you get to taste the delicious cuisines from four countries: Italy, Ireland, Switzerland and Germany. So don’t forget to stop by each location for a taste!

If you really need to relax for a bit or sit down for a real meal, there are plenty of dining locations throughout the park. Really, you and your family will never go hungry!

What can you find at Kings Dominion?

Other offerings at this festival include free family-friendly concerts, unique food offerings, and hands-on children’s activities! Sabrina Carpenter visited Kings Dominion on May 14th for a FREE concert in the Kingswood Amphitheater.  For any free concert, we recommend getting there early. Afterall, seating will be first-come, first served.  First, spend your day at the park enjoying the Spring Bloom Festival and then have fun at the concert at 6 p.m.!  The concert is included with park admission.

3D Movie at Kings Dominion

We ended our visit watching a fun 3D dinosaur-themed movie that was very educational. We all enjoyed the movie and being able to relax after such a busy day. I’m sure we will be back to Kings Dominion again this year!

Other upcoming events/festivals at the park include:

It’s good that there are light to moderate rides there, I’m usually a scaredy-cat when it comes to the real hair raisers! King’s Dominion sounds like a cool place to hang out with friends and/or family and I also appreciate themed events or festivals like the ones they’re having.
