Sakura Sticklers Review and Giveaway!

*This post is by mom blogger Shannon, who offered to review the Sakura Sticklers for Hip Mama's Place.

I am a creator at heart, whether it's writing or crafting. I am also a perfectionist. This can make my crafting adventures a challenge at times. Sakura has these stickers called Sticklers™. You gently peel off the outlined portion of the sticker and stick them on any non-porous surface such as glass, metal, ceramic, and even paper. Then, use your creativity and the pens to color them in. If you put them on a piece of plastic or glass, it's almost like stained glass. My kids really enjoyed them because they were able to stay in the lines and create something pretty. You can choose from the glaze pen or the soufflé pen. The glaze pen creates a more see-through effect, whereas the soufflé pen has more of a puffy effect. The inks write with a raised effect similar to embossing without the need for heat tools or powders. These are perfect for younger kids who want to make a pretty craft for mom, or if you are 75 and like to make your own cards.

The ideas of use for Sticklers™ are numerous. You can use them as personalized tags, or Christmas ornaments (perfect for younger kids). Do you usually decorate Easter eggs (yes, the pens are that gentle)? Gift bags can be spendy! You can buy the plain, cheap ones, then use the stickers to personalize the bag. I even used one on my cell phone to give it some personality.

We also played with the Gelly Roll® pens. I have used many gel ink pens in my time. Many times, I have to hold the pen just so to get a perfect line. These pens were fluid as if writing with a thin felt tip pen. The metallic and glitter effects are just perfect. Not too much to look childish and just enough so you can notice. My husband was so impressed he is using them at work.

Sakura has been around since 1921. In 1924, they created the first-ever oil pastel that combined oil and pigment and named it Cray-Pas. In the early 80's they created Pigma ink which is still loyally used by architects, scientists, artists, cartoonists, and scrap bookers, to name a few. In 1984, Sakura invented the first gel-based ink which earned them the prestigious Inventors Award in 2000 by Japan’s patent office. The most recent invention is the raised ink with Glaze (2003) ink, and Soufflé (2005) ink. Sakura continues to be on the cutting edge because they believe everyone has the right to self-expression.

I cannot do justice describing how cool these Sticklers are. You really just need to see for yourself. Retail Price: $5.99

*Win a Sakura Sticklers™ Kit! I'd like to let my daughter (5) use these to decorate a border on small acrylic frames to 'dress up' the pictures she sends to her deployed daddy. Sounds like the stickers make a nice, neat stencil...would be less frustrating for her.

I'd like to use them for decorating plain bags to wrap Christmas gifts. We are going to try not to overspend this year! And I love those gel pens too. I used to write notes with them all the time in middle school :-)
