Baby, it’s dry outside… but your skin doesn’t need to be!

Yes, winter is upon us and personally, I love the warm, toasty feeling I get being wrapped up in my favorite cozy sweaters or blankets, or settled in front of a fire with my loved ones on cold, wintry nights.

But the cold, dry air outside and the warm, dry air indoor during the winter months can also wreak havoc on the skin. I get really dry, dull, flaky, and itchy skin around this time of year which is why, I’m totally serious when it comes to giving my skin extra TLC, especially in the cold winter weather when my skin seems to suffer a lot more.

Winter Skin Care Tips

Fortunately, I have a trusted dermatologist that I go to for the best advice on taking care of my skin.

Here are a few tips (that I personally follow) on keeping one’s skin hydrated, glowing and supple during the harsh winter months:

  1. Hot drinks like cocoa and tea are great, but our skin needs hydration from the inside out. So drink lots of water everyday! I make my drinking water more refreshing by adding fresh lemon slices to it.
  1. Heating systems can dry out the air, so installing a humidifier in your home can put moisture back into the air and helps prevent skin from drying out.
  1. Don’t forget to wear gloves and scarves to protect skin from the cold, harsh winds, rain and snow.
  1. Hot showers and baths can strip natural oils from your skin, leaving skin to dry out quickly. So choose lukewarm water and apply a good skin moisturizer as your second step after drying off.

AmLactin Skin Care (and why I love them!)

To help keep my skin well hydrated in the winter (or in any season!), I choose the dermatologist-recommended AmLactin brand of skin care products.

I used a different brand of body lotion and skin care moisturizers in the past, but since adding AmLactin to my daily skin care regimen just a few short months ago, I’ve noticed a lot of great changes in my skin – especially in the rougher, dryer areas like my hands, elbows and knees. I live in the desert so it is double dry here in the winter. It is a constant battle to keep my bottom lip from cracking . My trick is stay hydrated as that actually helps dry skin and also I use coconut oil as lotion but mostly on my lips before bed as it helps heal it while I sleep and not constantly chewing on it). I really want to try AmLactin though and would really like to try their Ultra Hydrating Body Cream. https://amlactin.com/product/amlactin-ultra-hydrating-body-cream

Amlactin is a good product to use on our skin. I do pamper my skin with a good moisturizer too. I pay special attention too to my feet, especially during the cold, winter months. I do not want to have dry cracked heels, and I think I would want to try Amlactin’s foot cream. https://amlactin.com/product/amlactin-foot-cream

I have very dry skin, I try to make sure when I take my showers at night instead of the morning only because mornings here are colder and doesn’t help my skin at all.. Second, I often rub myself down with coconut oil, it helps that much, Having eczema is no fun, so keeping my skin dry but lotioned is a job almost LOL for real.. Anyway’ I would mind trying these products out. or at least this one here https://amlactin.com/product/amlactin-ultra-hydrating-body-cream

A humidifier is a must in my bedroom at night with the heat going on – I get so dried out and my elbows & knees get ashy looking. I moisturize a few times a day to keep them feeling soft.

I moisturize twice a day and use hand cream frequently. I also wear gloves to protect my hands. I would love to try the AmLactin® Ultra Hydrating Body Cream.
