Summer is always full of excitement – what with all the planned family trips, celebrations and activities that we normally don’t get to do when the kids are in school. For our family, important milestones like birthdays and anniversaries seem to happen most around this time of year. So, we always have events here and there that just add to the whole fun and excitement to our summer overall!
And this summer is going to be extra exciting! I was invited to be a 2015 Cooking Light & Health’s Fit Foodie 5K Race Weekend Ambassador, along with a handful of other DC-area foodie and fitness bloggers and I couldn’t be any more thrilled! 🙂
So as I’m writing this post, I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am about this event! I mean, our family’s summer schedule is already full. But how can you say ‘no’ to an event that is the ultimate celebration of food, family and fun? So to say, “I feel so honored to be one of 2015 Cooking Light & Health’s Fit Foodie 5K Race Weekend Ambassador” is truly an understatement! 🙂
So, what exactly is Cooking Light & Health’s The Fit Foodie 5K Race Weekend and what can you expect from this event?
The concept of the Fit Foodie was born out of the idea that a healthy lifestyle and delicious culinary experiences don’t have to be separate. Calories burned, calories earned, right?? Life is about balance and working hard so that you can indulge in those things that you are passionate about. When delicious food, working out, and good friends are all combined, it is a beautiful culmination of all that life has to offer.
The Fit Foodie 5K Weekend is jam-packed with celebrity chef tastings, culinary and fitness demonstrations, yoga sessions, and a fitness bootcamp, all led by celebrity trainers and fitness experts. This year, the race will be hitting the road to Fairfax, VA, Austin, TX, Chicago, IL, and San Diego, CA, to bring you the most delicious 5K weekend ever!
An invaluable part of this journey is giving back to the community and this year, The American Diabetes Association is the Fit Foodie 5K Race Weekend’s Official Charity. The American Diabetes Association’s mission is to prevent and cure diabetes and toimprove the lives of all people affected by diabetes.
