The Busy Mom’s Guide to Getting in Shape for the Summer

Keeping your figure isn’t always easy when you’re a mom. You’ve got so much going on in your life which usually take priority over your diet, exercise schedule, minimizing stress, and getting at least 7 hours of rest. Between work, caring for the kids, and maintaining the house, there’s often little to no time (let alone the energy) to get in shape.

Yet summer is just around the corner! This is the time of year where beach vacations and pool days are the norm. Who doesn’t want to turn heads while wearing designer swimwear on a beach vacation? Or, get compliments from friends on how she looks like she did back in high school? If you’re looking for simple solutions to losing weight and getting in shape for the summer, despite your busy schedule, these tips are sure to help.

Drink Smoothies for Breakfast

Who has time to eat a full-course breakfast? You’re too focused on getting ready for work and school. Skipping breakfast, however, does nothing for your figure. It would be best instead to start drinking your morning calories. Blending fruits, vegetables, nuts, powdered supplements, and other ingredients into a smoothie takes just a few minutes but keeps your body going as if you’ve eaten an entire meal.

Prioritize Sleep

The body works daily to produce the necessary level or hormones to keep you functioning properly from your weight to your mental health. When you’re not naturally producing enough of these hormones, it can cause an imbalance leading to a number of things including weight gain.

One hormone that is said to help with weight management is melatonin, often referred to as the sleep hormone. The melatonin weight loss connection implies that when you get adequate sleep you can easily manage your weight. Therefore, having your body produce enough of this hormone is necessary. So next time you’re faced with the choice to stay up another hour binging your favorite show or folding laundry, choose some extra zzz’s.

Organic Meal Delivery Service

Sometimes a mother’s plate is so full, she doesn’t have the time to prepare the wholesome foods her family needs to stay healthy and in shape. Unfortunately, meals end up being fast food, takeout, or quick fix solutions which are all unhealthy and pack on the pounds.

You can remedy the problem by looking into organic meal delivery service options. These companies offer healthy meal ideas for breakfast, lunch, and dinner for families of all sizes. You simply select the recipes you’d like to try, the number of people in your family, and schedule your delivery. Everything you need to prepare the meal is included in the box and portioned just right to make cooking faster.

Meditate for Five Minutes

Stress-free and parenting are never to be said in the same sentence. It sort of comes with the territory. That being said, too much stress weighs heavily on you both physically and mentally. If you want to lose weight and shape up in time for the summer, you’ve got to learn how to effectively manage your stress.

There is certainly more than one way to get this done, but meditation has proven to be a very effective solution. Taking just five minutes in the morning in a secluded and quiet area of your home to focus on deep breathing can reduce your stress and help re-center your mind for what lies ahead.

Walk Whenever You Can

Trying to get to the gym, follow an exercise DVD, or make time for exercise altogether is rough when you’re always on the go. However, remaining active is necessary to shedding those pounds and toning your muscles. If you really don’t have time to fit in exercise or aren’t one who likes working out, try walking.

Walking is a very effective exercise that can help you lose weight, boost your metabolism, and tone your muscles. Try to fit walking into your daily routine as much as possible. You can walk up and down the stairs at home for a few minutes, take the dog for a walk, park further away from your job or the grocery store and walk into the building, or take the stairs instead of the elevator.

Tired of looking at yourself in the mirror wondering what life has done to your body? Ready to lose a few extra pounds or tighten up those muscles? Though life can often be hectic and time is limited, there are ways for busy moms to keep their health at the forefront of their minds. Making a habit of the above suggestions will help you tackle those weight loss and fitness issues while still taking care of business.
