5 Lessons I Learned As An Influencer

Years ago, when I thought about my career, I never would have guessed that I would end up being an influencer. I mean, I am just a regular person, working hard to give my family the best life possible. But the thing is, lots of people can relate to that! So many of us are in the same boat, looking for products, places and ideas to make our home life better.

Over the last few years, I have been lucky enough to share my secrets to living life to the fullest with all of you. I have learned and grown so much since starting Hip Mama’s Place! Here are a few things that I have learned as a lifestyle, food and travel influencer.

  1. Always be Honest

We don’t all have Instagram-perfect lives! Everyone know this is true. Of course, we all like to highlight the best parts of each day through pictures and social media. However, within all these fun and cheerful posts, I always aim for honesty. This hold true weather I am reviewing a product, promoting a store or just talking about my favorite recipes. Honesty is always the best policy! I want my followers to trust my opinions and believe my words. Don’t worry- I will always tell the truth!

  1. Stand Up for My Beliefs

There are a lot of people out there and you just can’t please them all! I made a promise to myself a long time ago that I would always stick to my beliefs and promote things that I believe in. There is no amount of money that can sway me away from this! People will follow me if they believe in the same things I do and, to be honest, those are the only people I want on my page! We are all different and that’s okay. I will always celebrate my difference.

  1. Connect with People

I absolutely love when I open my website, my Instagram or my Facebook and see that I have new messages. Hearing how people feel about my most recent blog or seeing a picture of the recipe they made using my site just makes my heart feel full! I take as much time as possible responding to everyone and connecting with those that enjoy my blogs. It is great to start a conversation and really bond with people who love the same things I do. There are real humans behind these screens and that is one of my favorite things about blogging.

  1. Be Helpful

When I review a new kitchen tool, recommend a product or talk about a promotion at a store, the main reason I do it is to help others. I want to give people all the information possible to help them make informed decisions and purchase items that they really want. I am always sure to follow up with these posts too and answer any more questions people have about a specific item. Sure, influencers sometimes get paid to talk about products but I want to be sure that the ones I promote are actually useful. Many of us on this page are busy moms- we need to lean on each other to learn!

  1. Keep Learning

I have been an influencer for many years now and a mom and wife for even more! I know a lot about how to blog, how to cook and how to maintain a home. However, there is always so much more to learn! I try to learn from other influencers, from my personal friends and, of course, from my family. Seeing how others do things successfully helps me flourish as well. When I learn more, I can pass that information on to all of you!

I have been lucky enough to have success as an influencer and for that I am ever grateful. However, I will never forget the days when I was struggling to make a paycheck. We all start somewhere and remembering the path that led to success is so important. No matter how many followers I have or how many sponsors want to be featured on my site, I will never forget the long days and nights I spent building my brand. Being humble is something we should all do!

I hope you learn a lot by following me on my journey to build a happy, healthy, productive and fun home. I will continue to post regularly and sharing my adventures with you! And thank you all for supporting me, reading my blog and giving my recipes, lifestyle and travel tips a try. I hope they have helped you as well.

I completely agree with you! As an influencer, one should always be honest and helpful ☺ As a product reviewer, I always make sure to give my honest feedback on a product or service so that my readers can get the actual picture of it before investing in it.

Really glad to see influencers like yourself still willing to help others and guide them. It’s good to know that there are people who still have their feet on the ground.

It is critical to stand up for what we believe in, but in a way that is dignified and not hurtful to others. This is easy to say but so hard to do, especially every time.

All of these things are so important, especially honesty. Unfortunately it is hard to tell nowadays who is being honest and who is not, especially when it comes to body image representation by influencers who have a huge following. It is so important to spread positive message, and connect to your audience as well.

These are such great lessons! Standing up for one’s beliefs is a big one because its so easy to get trampled on with social media. Thanks for sharing these!

As a fellow influencer, I agree that being honest is one of the most important things of the job. You want to establish a genuine connection and sense of trust with the brand you work with, as well as your audience.

If you are not honest as an influencer, you won’t achieve much. It’s important to realise that your readers trust you and if you are not honest about the products you use, they will stop following you.

Great article! I agree, I’ve also learned to be more up front and honest.
