There is something so sentimental about personalized gifts versus non-personalized ones. Like on Gabriel's (my toddler) second birthday, a mommy friend gave him a beautiful personalized soft feather pillow with his name embroidered on it. I'd say it was the most unforgettable gift item we've received for him that day.
Just recently, we received the very delightful children's personalized book The First Adventures of Incredible You from Custom Made For Kids. I can't tell you how much we love this amazing little book of fun and adventure. It's just about the only book Gabriel wants me and his daddy to read to him right now- he absolutely adores it!
In this personalized children's book, Gabriel is the "star" in his own story relating his first adventures of life with me and his daddy, his little brother Jaden, and his friends. His name appears over 20 times throughout the whole book (which makes him smile everytime it's mentioned in the story) and includes all the things and places that are familiar to him such as visits to our very own local zoo, park and beach. It even tells about him going to his first Rangers game with his daddy and him racing to the kitchen 'with incredible haste' to taste his favorite 'Mom's special spaghetti'. What fun! I am having such a blast with this book myself that I don't mind reading it to him for however many times in a day! And I love the way the whole story is being told in lively rhymes- it makes for a vibrant and happy story-telling time with my baby.
What also impressed me well about this book is the rich, full color pages- so artfully illustrated by Jill Dryer Bartolucci, an urban folk artist inspired by music and all things groovy. This is not one of those 'cookie cutter' personalized children's book you see around everywhere now that are printed on low quality paper created just for the sake of seeing your child's name in print. The First Adventures Of Incredible You is a professional looking, full color illustrated book that's sure to become a keepsake in your family for many years to come.
Mom entrepreneurs and founders Sarah Riley Headrick and Sarah Foreman Rivera, who also co-authored this thoughtfully-created personalized children's book, are proud to tell us that The First Adventures of Incredible You won the 2007 iParenting Media Award for Outstanding Product in the Gift category. This book is truly and highly recommended for little boys and girls ages 0-8. By answering some questions specific and unique to the child you're giving it to, this book can be easily customized for you.

Alphabet Flash Cards

Now that vintage French designs are in fashion again, I thought I'd share to you all my new lovely find- a set of.. (what else?).. vintage French-designed alphabet flashcards. Not that I only bought them for the 'aesthetic' experience. But I thought the attractive images on these flashcards would make a wonderful tool to introduce my kids to the alphabet.
I can say that this item has now become one my toddler's new favorite 'reading time' tool.
These beautiful flash cards are inspired by a vintage French children's dictionary designed by artist Beth Nelson and are truly a lovely introduction to the ABCs. Each flashcard is printed on thick, sturdy board perfect for itty-bitty hands to hold. Wanna get creative? If you are into mounting beautiful print designs to make your own wall frames, these flashcards can be used for that purpose as well. Perfect if you're looking for something unique to hang on the wall of your kid's room.
