We all have heard the ideal of the American dream of the pursuit of happiness. We all strive for various things to be happy. But, sometimes in our goal-driven, fast-paced life, we lose sight of the smaller things. Being Green is one of those things that can easily be overlooked. But, I am partnering with Tetra Pak to help show you how can add Being Green to your list of things that make you happy.
Celebrate International Day of Happiness on March 20
Being green can be a matter of a few simple steps we take to help protect the earth. There are, of course, shades of green, so to speak – and I’m not claiming to be the deepest green blogger out there, but I am aware that resources are not infinite. This is why, I am all for encouraging everyone to make simple renewable lifestyle changes to live happier while protecting our earth.
Did you know? According to Summers (et al) 2012, Nature Provides a lot for us and “we pay significantly for their loss in terms of wastewater treatment facilities, moratoriums on greenhouse gases, increased illnesses, reduced soil fertility and losses in those images of nature that contribute to our basic happiness.”
Yes, we have the power to be happier and to protect the earth’s resources by adopting simple, renewable lifestyle behaviors.
One small change for a lasting impact
Did you know that choosing products with renewable packaging is a simple step with far-reaching impact? Tetra Pak carton packaging helps protect our planet’s limited supply of natural resources, Tetra Pak cartons are mainly made from paper, a renewable resource that can be naturally replenished.
Tetra Pak commissioned a study to see how people felt when they made various choices. They found that most people (70 percent) feel happier when they make renewable lifestyle choices.
- Many renewable habits, those that help preserve natural resources, make people happier, including:
- Using re-usable drink containers when possible (63 percent)
- Buying only what can be consumed when shopping at the grocery store (61 percent)
- Choosing food and beverage products in renewable packaging at the store (58 percent)
I recently took Tetra Pak’s Happiness Quiz and learned about how renewable lifestyle habits lead to happiness. I took ‘challenges’ that encouraged me to take daily steps toward living a more conscious, renewable lifestyle, such as:
- choosing food and beverage products with renewable packaging, like cartons, when grocery shopping
- taking shorter showers
- biking or walking whenever possible
- swapping my paper coffee cup for a mug
By doing these challenges, I made better choices. Like, when I’m using products that aren’t at the end of their life cycle and instead choose items that are renewable, I am making better choices. This #RenewableLiving campaign is just one step to spark awareness around the benefits of using renewable materials.
When it comes to being happy – make choices that not only make you happy immediately, but also help us all in the long term. Choose renewable. Take Tetra Pak’s Happiness Quiz and you’ll find out for yourself why making a habit out of even minor renewable lifestyle choices that help preserve precious resources hints to greater happiness! I’ve taken the challenge and I’ll continue to do it and I highly recommend you take it too!
What do you use that is renewable instead of just made of products that are made from non-renewable resources?
