Have you ever noticed how much time your family spends in the kitchen? It’s one of the rooms where we interact the most. The kitchen truly is the heart of my home where family and friends congregate to enjoy delicious food and important conversations. In addition to the kitchen being the place where family and friends engage the most, the kitchen is where we serve nutritious food and delicious snacks to keep our loved ones full.

budget-friendly ways to improve your kitchen

When it comes to the kitchen, it’s also one of the most popular locations of a home that can make resale value increase or decrease depending on the layout and how well it’s set up. Most homes are set up so that the kitchen is the first room that you walk into upon arrival into a person’s home. When I think about the kitchen, I remember the days of watching my mother cooking up some delicious homemade food that made our entire home smell yummy.

A great kitchen is truly the heart of the home and it’s important that we keep it comfortable and updated.

The kitchen is truly the heart of your home

When we moved into our current home five years ago, we were fortunate that we didn’t have to do any updating or remodeling in the kitchen. My husband and I plan on getting some new kitchen appliances next year but besides that, everything looks great and modernized. If you love the kitchen as much as I do, with the fond memories made and delicious food created right there in the heart of the home, then I’m sure you’ve thought about how to improve your kitchen before.

budget-friendly ways to improve kitchen

Today I’m sharing with you 8 easy and budget-friendly ways to improve your kitchen so that you can enjoy many more years in the heart of your home. 8 Budget-Friendly Ways to Improve Your Kitchen

  1. Repair Cabinets and Storage Space

If you cannot fully replace or repair the cabinets in your kitchen, you can update them with new knobs, or fresh paint to do a makeover for your current cabinets and storage space. They make wire shelves too that look lovely in the kitchen, and help create more storage space.

  1. Repair or Replace Countertops

Countertops take a lot of beatings over the years, and that’s why they often need repairing or replacement. You can easily look into Sears Home Services to get a free kitchen remodel plan and tips on how to improve your kitchen countertops.

  1. Change Drawer Liners

If your kitchen drawers have those liners in them or shelves within cabinets have that non-slip liner, change the liners up. You can improve your kitchen by switching out the drawer or shelf liners with a new color or texture for a super low cost.

  1. Add a Rug

It’s nice to have a rug to stand on while you’re at the kitchen sink or perhaps you have a huge kitchen that provides adequate space for a large area rug to go underneath your dining room table. A kitchen rug is quite inexpensive and can highly improve your kitchen’s appearance quickly.

  1. Purchase a new Dish Rack

Take a moment to think about all the little items and gadgets that you have on the countertops that could be upgraded. Items like a dish rack can be upgraded to a more fashionable piece with little cost to you. There are many beautiful kitchen gadgets available these days for any budget type.

  1. Paint the Walls

Sometimes the easiest way to improve your kitchen is to start painting. You can change the full color and theme of your kitchen with just a little change in color. Go to your local paint store or have this included in your free kitchen remodel consult from Sears Home Services.

  1. Clean the Fridge

One of the most budget-friendly ways to improve your kitchen is to get rid of items in the fridge. There may be old food in your fridge and freezer that’s expired. Pull everything out of that area and toss out anything that’s expired. Use fridge shelves to organize the fridge with items kept.

  1. Shine Clean the Countertops

Lastly, you can give your countertops a quick shine for little to no cost using items around the home. Sears recommend this mixture for shining up those countertops: Mix together “¼ cup vodka, 3 drops dish soap, 2 cups water, and Essential oils”. Put the mixture in a spray bottle and use a clean rag to wipe down your countertops for a nice, sparkly clean shine.

Oh my gosh, I love your island! I wish I had one. I have a kitchen with a peninsula and that has a hightop bar attached. Its okay, but I wish it were lower because I’m short. But at least the colors in the kitchen with the cabinets and countertops are good. I do wish I had a bigger pantry though.
