Beyond the Brunch: Give Mom the Gift of Travel This Mother’s Day

Not every mom would prefer to have chocolates and flowers on Mother’s Day. Some would like to skip the conventional breakfast in bed or a trip to the local mall or movies. Well, if you know that your mom loves to travel, this is the perfect time to make her realize how much you love her and plan her next adventure.

You could take a short Miami cruise, visit a winery, or have an ideal vacation sitting on a beach chair. Give your mom the gift of travel this Mother’s Day, especially if she loves traveling and seeing new places. She will always remember the meaningful gesture and have some lifelong memories when she embarks on a new adventure.

Here are dozens of thoughtful travel gift ideas for Mother’s Day.

Visit a National park
If your mom loves being outdoors and hiking on a trail in a national park, she will truly appreciate a day in a park. Buy a park pass to get access to a certain national park, and if you want, you can bring other family members, too. This opportunity is meant for quality time, bonding, and strengthening familial bonds.

Plan a beach vacation
If your mom loves to swim and spend time on beaches, you should definitely spend a day on the beach. Plan a beach holiday and visit local sites and attractions that are sure to keep your mom happy and delighted. It is simply great to spend some time with your mom away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Take a tour of islands
Plan an exotic vacation and take your mother to a lovely destination with immaculate white beaches and crystal clear waters. You can indulge in island hopping, and if your mom is up to it, enjoy some underwater adventures. The uninterrupted time spent on the islands is sure to help you and your mother escape the stresses of daily responsibilities and create some cherished moments together.

Go to the mountains
Some moms prefer mountains to beaches, and nothing could be better than spending some time away on the hills with your mom on Mother’s Day. Take your mother for a weekend trip to a nearby mountain resort and experience a charming day away from the city. Find a nice cottage where your mom can stay to witness the glory and tranquility of the mountains and enjoy the peace.

Plan a road trip
Many mothers simply love a road trip, and it is a great way to have some fun with your mom as well as get the chance to see new places, towns, and cities. Pick a route that is easy on the drive and is scenic, with plenty of stops in between. There are often some gorgeous homestays or vacation rentals on popular routes.

Whether it’s exploring a new destination, lounging on a sun-soaked beach, or hiking up a mountain, traveling with your mom offers one chance to recharge and let your mom feel rejuvenated. Afterall, she deserves the much-needed break and some moments of love and closeness with her children.

I love these travel ideas, Jocelyn! So much more creative than brunch. I’m excited to do a mini retreat in a salt cave with my mom for Mother’s Day – definitely something different and adventurous for us.

When my kids were younger, travelling by myself is something really hard for me – I always want them to come with me, now that they’re a bit older – I can at least go 2 days away. And travelling as a gift is wonderful!
