These easy, homemade Red Velvet Kiss Cookies topped with candy cane Hershey’s Kisses chocolates are the perfect sweet treats for the holidays!
Ingredients
1 ½ cup all-purpose flour
2 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
½ cup unsalted butter
¾ cup brown sugar
¼ cup granulated sugar
1 egg, room temperature
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1–2 teaspoons red food gel
48 candy cane Hershey’s kisses
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray mini muffin pan with nonstick spray and set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl whisk together all-purpose flour, unsweetened cocoa, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate mixing bowl cream together unsalted butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, egg, vanilla extract, and red food gel with an electric hand mixer or kitchen aid until all combined.
- Add flour mixture into butter, this batter will be thick.
- Scoop out a tablespoon of batter and place in mini muffin pan.
- Bake in pre heated oven for 10 minutes.
- While cookies are baking unwrap Hershey kisses.
- Remove cookies from oven and immediately press a kiss all the way down in the cookie while they are still in the pan. This will create a well which the kiss will instantly melt.
- Allow cookies to cool for 10 minutes, remove from pan and place on a cooling rack.
- Place another Hershey’s kiss on top.
