Description
This Hot Caramelized Onion and Bacon Dip is the ultimate super easy appetizer to make for any casual get together any time of the year!
Ingredients
3 ½ cups thinly sliced Vidalia onions
1 tbsp butter
1 tsp minced garlic
1 tsp sugar
½ tsp salt
¼ tsp black pepper
1 tbsp red wine vinegar
⅓ cup mayonnaise
⅓ cup sour cream
6 oz shredded aged white cheddar cheese
5 slices of bacon, cooked and crumbled
Instructions
- Begin by preheating the oven to 425 degrees.
- Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the thinly sliced onions to the skillet, toss to coat in the butter, and cook down until well caramelized, about 20-25 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic to the skillet, and stir to cook for 30 seconds.
- Mix in the red wine vinegar, salt, pepper and sugar to deglaze the pan well. Stir to combine all of the ingredients.
- Transfer the onion mixture to a mixing bowl, and add in the mayonnaise, sour cream, shredded cheese and crumbled bacon. Mix until well combined.
- Add the dip mixture into a small baking dish, and bake for 20 minutes until browned and bubbly.
