Description

This Hot Caramelized Onion and Bacon Dip is the ultimate super easy appetizer to make for any casual get together any time of the year!


Ingredients

Scale

3 ½ cups thinly sliced Vidalia onions

1 tbsp butter

1 tsp minced garlic

1 tsp sugar

½ tsp salt

¼ tsp black pepper

1 tbsp red wine vinegar

⅓ cup mayonnaise

⅓ cup sour cream

6 oz shredded aged white cheddar cheese

5 slices of bacon, cooked and crumbled


Instructions

  1. Begin by preheating the oven to 425 degrees.
  2. Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add the thinly sliced onions to the skillet, toss to coat in the butter, and cook down until well caramelized, about 20-25 minutes.
  4. Add the minced garlic to the skillet, and stir to cook for 30 seconds.
  5. Mix in the red wine vinegar, salt, pepper and sugar to deglaze the pan well. Stir to combine all of the ingredients.
  6. Transfer the onion mixture to a mixing bowl, and add in the mayonnaise, sour cream, shredded cheese and crumbled bacon. Mix until well combined.
  7. Add the dip mixture into a small baking dish, and bake for 20 minutes until browned and bubbly.
