7 Steps to Creating a Clutter-Free Kitchen

With busy lives, it can be challenging to clean up and organize the space you spend most of your time. You end up ordering in, your trash bags begin to fill, dishes pile up, and it almost becomes daunting to cook because of how complicated and chaotic the kitchen can get without proper organization. Especially if you’ve just moved in or just starting to organize your kitchen, where do you put everything in a clean, seamless and accessible manner?

Here are seven easy ways to have a clutter free kitchen and make daily kitchen-related activities more organized.

Before you begin organizing, evaluate where your cooking utensils should go (pots, pans, silverware, dishes, etc.), you should assess your space. Designate your cupboards, cabinets, drawers, and see where the best places for each type of kitchen item should go. Once you’ve done that, you can begin the process of coordinating your kitchen.

Clutter Free Kitchen Ideas

1) Storage Containers

It seems almost obvious, but the importance of containers can often be overlooked. You can get different size glass containers with airtight lids so that your uncooked pasta, rice, nuts, and so forth can stay fresh and dry. This way, when you get home from grocery shopping, you can open your bags of raw items, put them in their chosen container, and utilize your space while knowing where it is. Also, because these containers are see-through, you will always know what is what.

2) Label Maker

When you’re organizing your storage, it is useful to get a label maker and label each container items you typically eat often. For example, if you’re prone to eating rice, spaghetti, almonds, etc. make sure you get containers that would fit the number of items you typically get and label each box to remember which container to refill quickly. You can also organize the inside of your fridge using your label maker by labeling each drawer inside.

3) Cabinet Shelf Rack

Trying to get your plates while your bowls are stacked on top of them, can be a hassle. The best way to organize your multiple sized plates and bowels is getting a 2-3 tier cabinet shelf rack to separate your dishes. You can place these racks in your cabinets so that right when your dishes are dry, they can conveniently and quickly be put away.

4) Drawer Organizer

People tend to throw all their rubber bands, silverware, ketchup, toothpicks, and more in your drawers and hope for the best.  Utilizing a drawer organizer is a fantastic way to make sure your kitchen utensils and other random objects are not all over the place. Especially for silverware, silverware needs a place to live, so make sure to get a silverware organizer that has a space for each type of utensil you use the most.

5) Spice Rack

Getting a spice rack to place inside your cabinet so that your counter space remains clean and clutter-free is extremely helpful, and you are now able to cook with ease. You can also use your label maker to label your spices when you need to refill your spice containers.

6) Hooks

One of the most accessible and most useful solutions to organizing your oven mittens, cloth towels, and more, is by getting kitchen hooks. There are hooks available that have glue and re-sticking abilities so that you can conveniently place each hook in different places and remove them when and if you move. To make sure that your kitchen looks spotless, place specific hooks inside your cabinets on the door of the cabinet so that no one can see.

7) Drying mat

You might think you don’t need a drying mat, but it is one of the essential ways to keep a clutter-free kitchen and countertop. There are random odd things that need to be washed by hand and cannot go in the dishwasher, that is the blessing of a drying mat. You’re able to clean your items before bed and keep them out to dry overnight so that when you wake up, they can go in their spot so that your kitchen looks clutter-free.

With these seven clutter free kitchen ideas, you can feel confident having family and friends over. You can make dinner quickly and eliminate the confusion that disorganization brings.
