6 Ways To Redecorate Your Home On A Budget

Freshening up your home and making some changes to give it a totally new feel doesn’t have to strain your wallet. Fortunately, there are a ton of ways to redecorate your home on a budget. Check out some of my own tips below!

You don't have to break the bank to freshen up your home and give it a totally new feel. Here are 6 helpful ways to redecorate your home on a budget.

How To Redecorate Your Home On A Budget

1. Rearrange Your Room

You don't have to break the bank to freshen up your home and give it a totally new feel. Here are 6 helpful ways to redecorate your home on a budget.

Changing up the way your furniture is arranged can give your room a completely different look and change the flow. Move the sofa against the opposite wall to improve traffic flow. Create some extra space by orienting a dining table in the opposite direction or move pieces of furniture from one room to another.

2. Thrift and Re-purpose

If you really feel like you need a new piece of furniture, shop the nearest thrift store, flea market, or look for an estate sale for reasonably priced used furniture. Once cleaned up, these pieces can look amazing in your home. You can also re-purpose thrifted furniture or pieces you already have into an altogether new piece. Make a bar cart by adding wheels to a short bookcase, turn dresser drawers into floating shelves, or combine two old chairs to make a new bench.

3. Add a Coat of Paint

You don't have to break the bank to freshen up your home and give it a totally new feel. Here are 6 helpful ways to redecorate your home on a budget.

Painting a room can give it new life. Even if you only paint one wall as an accent, new paint is a sure way to spruce things up. Get creative by stenciling for a wallpaper look or by using a sponge or a rag to create texture. New paint is not only great for walls, but for other parts of your home as well. In the kitchen, you can paint cabinets or get some appliance paint for old appliances to freshen things up. Paint dressers or tables to coordinate with your room better, or even paint concrete or wood floors for a unique look. Adding some chalkboard paint to a wall or fridge can add some fun and functionality to your home.

4. Update Your Artwork

Check the thrift store for a new affordable painting to showcase on an empty wall. You can also buy some cheap frames from a big box store or from the thrift store and make a photo gallery wall for a personal touch in a room. You can also DIY some new art for a cheap, personal option.

5. Organize Your Stuff

You don't have to break the bank to freshen up your home and give it a totally new feel. Here are 6 helpful ways to redecorate your home on a budget.

Sometimes reorganizing your clutter can greatly change the way your home looks. Get rid of unused items, store your bathroom essentials in hidden storage, and display your attractive possessions more prominently. Take off a couple of cabinet doors to make open shelving and display your pretty dishes there or store pantry essentials on the shelves in pretty matching jars. Display your jewelry on a jewelry tree and get an over the door closet organizer for shoes and sunglasses. Changing your storage system is an effective and fun way to redecorate.

6. Change Out Small Finishes

Get new sconces or lamps for new ambiance in a bedroom. Get a new rug or some new throw pillows to change up your accent colors in the living room. Buy new curtains to give the dining room a new feel. Add new hardware to your kitchen or bathroom cabinets for an update. Sometimes making small changes can make a big difference in a room.

Yes, you can redecorate your home on a budget and you don’t have to break the bank. Just making small changes like a fresh coat of color or a new art piece can really spruce up your space. And if you don’t want to add anything, you can always rework what you already have with a new configuration! The bottom line is if you use what you have, get creative, and look for cheaper alternatives, you can refresh any room in your home for a low cost.

These are all great ideas. I don’t want to spend a lot when redecorating so I would always go with a fresh coat of paint. I recently repurposed my grandson’s old wooden toy box. We sanded it, gave it a new tint and varnish, so now it is a lovely side table where I put some books, magazines and a succulent plant.
