Made with boneless chicken breasts, broth, and bold pantry spices, this slow cooker shredded chicken tacos recipe is easy, flavorful, and perfect for taco night. Great for family dinners, parties, or meal prep!
Ingredients
3 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1/2 cup chicken broth
1 tablespoon chili powder
2 teaspoons ground cumin
2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons black pepper
2 teaspoons ground oregano
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust if you prefer less heat)
Instructions
1. Lightly spray the inside of your slow cooker with cooking spray (optional).
2. Place the chicken breasts in the slow cooker.
3. Pour the 1/2 cup chicken broth over the chicken.
4. In a small bowl, mix together chili powder, cumin, salt, black pepper, oregano, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper.
5. Sprinkle the seasoning mixture evenly over the chicken breasts. 6. Cover and cook on low for 6–7 hours or high for 3–4 hours, until the chicken is cooked through.
7. Remove the chicken from the slow cooker, shred with two forks, and return it to the broth in the slow cooker. Stir to coat the chicken in all the juices and spices.
8. Serve warm on taco shells or tortillas with your favorite toppings — suggestions: diced onions, cilantro, lime wedges, avocado, shredded cheese, or salsa.
