Since 1965, Post Honeycomb cereal fans have loved its one-of-a-kind playful shape and sweet honey taste. And this year, Post Honeycomb turned 50 and I’m happy to be celebrating along with a new, fun recipe using this cereal!
To start off the celebration, check out this fun Honeycomb tv commercial from the 1980’s. Are you familiar with this jingle at all? Totally amusing! 🙂
During the 1970s and 1980s, television commercials featured kids in their clubhouse, called the Honeycomb Hideout, who would win over clubhouse visitors by giving them a big bite of Honeycomb cereal and singing the jingle:
“Honeycomb’s big… Yeah, yeah, yeah!
It’s not small… No, no, no!
Honeycomb’s got… A big, big bite!
Big, big (taste/crunch) in a big, big bite!”
I mean, who doesn’t like Post Honeycomb cereal? It reminds me so much of my childhood and even just writing this post makes me think of how much I love this cereal! It’s a breakfast classic that’s not only great in the bowl, but also as a flavorful addition to treats. It’s also perfect for baking and creating, giving familiar types of recipes a whole new taste. Even better, my kids love this cereal for breakfast too!
This morning, I made Morning Cereal Muffins – a recipe I adapted from the Post Honeycomb site. I really enjoyed making these muffins … and they turned out great too! These are wonderful for breakfast, brunch and/or afternoon snack. I’m definitely making these muffins again soon!
