Personal confession: I don’t particularly enjoy grocery shopping. So when I do, I make sure I have a really good list because I only go about twice a month. I’m one of those women you see with a full cart at the checkout line. I know most of my friends (or most people in general) love grocery shopping. But for me, it’s more of a chore more than anything. In other words, it’s one task that I’d delegate to a personal assistant if I have one. 😉
But the reality is, we have to eat and I have to go grocery shopping.
So imagine my excitement when Peapod by Giant contacted me to try their grocery delivery service. I have always wanted to try this service, but I just wasn’t sure if I will like it, or how to go about it.
Here’s my take on the Peapod grocery delivery service:
*It saves time. If you’re anything like me, you wear many hats and you only have so much time in your day. With Peapod grocery delivery service, I never have to leave the house, drive to go to the store, and spend 2-3 hours of my day browsing through the store and picking up all the things we need. My first online ordering took me less than an hour to complete, which left me more time to work, enjoy my family, and even take a few minutes for myself.
*It reduces impulse buying. Let’s face it: grocery stores are designed to entice and make consumers stop and look, then stray from their budget. You know there’s a reason they have easy to grab candies and attractive magazines near the checkout line, right? Because they know you’ll buy them. A grocery delivery service like Peapod helps you stick to your list by ordering only the things you need. Especially helpful if you have meals planned for the week or so.
*It helps you stick to your healthy eating or diet. You can set up and manage Peapod’s NutriFilter® feature that helps you filter or label products based on common needs, such as kosher, organic, gluten-free, or sugar-free. It also lists Weight Watchers® point values next to certain products. I love this feature!
One thing I have to admit though, I had my doubts using a grocery delivery service, because I wasn’t sure if I will get the best meat or freshest produce. But for the purpose of this review, I went ahead and ordered chicken, steak and ground beef. I can say, I wasn’t disappointed when the items arrived at my door. We paid a small delivery service + tip the delivery guy but I think it was worth it for saving us time and energy making a trip to the grocery store.
All in all, we were very satisfied with Peapod. My husband is hooked and today, we placed our second grocery order on Peapod.com and it’s scheduled to be delivered on Thursday! 🙂
