I was out driving today and noticed the leaves have started turning reds, yellows and oranges. I can’t believe autumn is finally here! It’s always lovely here this time of year!
The gorgeous changing of colors of the leaves, family picnic in the mountains, apple-picking with our kids, going on scenic mountain drives, pumpkin bread, cinnamon spice… these are just some of the things I love about the Fall season!
And one of the things we enjoy doing as a family is going on fun, little adventures! Which takes me to my post…
Last month, I was invited to experience a high-adventure zipline canopy tour in the beautiful North Carolina mountains, courtesy of NAVITAT CANOPY ADVENTURES Ashville, NC. Talk about perfect timing! This invitation came at a perfect time because my husband and I had been planning on visiting his two grandmothers who both live in Atlanta, Georgia. We figured, we could plan a driving trip to see the grandmas, then go to Asheville, NC to see our dear friend Teri and then take NAVITAT zipline adventure after that. And boy, what a special time we had!
So here’s the skinny on ziplining tours in Asheville, NC: when you mention the name NAVITAT CANOPY ADVENTURES, people will tell you right away, “Yes, that’s a good one to go to!” or “Great! I heard it’s really fun ziplining there!”. We heard this from our friend Teri and several of the local folks we’ve chatted with along the way.
About NAVITAT CANOPY ADVENTURES:
NAVITAT showcases the sweeping natural beauty of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains on tours designed to thrill, educate and inspire.
There are three (3) ziplining adventure tours you can do at NAVITAT currently…
*Moody Cove Adventure – is NAVITAT‘s original tour and is for people who prefer to navigate through the tree canopy instead of racing over it. Consistently called one of the best in the nation, this tour combines 10 ziplines, 2 rappels, 2 sky bridges, 2 hikes for an inspiring and educational tree-based 3.5 hour adventure. This was the tour my husband and I chose to take on this trip and we loved every minute of it! The tour was about 3 hours long and besides ziplining, we also did a little hiking, stopping to enjoy the amazing beauty of the mountains, chatting with our tour guides (who were both so personable and accommodating) and fellow tourists.
Here are a few photos of our Moody Cove Adventure thrilling zipline tour in Asheville, North Carolina last September!
The air was cool, and we were awed at the beauty of the mountains!

One of the high ziplines we took… some of our friends said, “Wow, you all did that?! Scary!!!” (lol)
And walking on these wooden sky bridges up so high were just as fun as ziplining itself!

We hopped on and off these cool tree houses from one zipline to another!
And yup, this was me dangling on a 200 ft zipline.. I was literally on Cloud 9! 🙂
My overall take about the Moody Cove Adventure zipline tour: If you are a beginner on high ziplines, take this tour. Just be sure to listen to the instructions of your tour guide very carefully before taking your first zipline, especially the part where you have to use one of your hands to stop yourself at the end of the zipline. I messed up on the first one and wasn’t able to do it the right way to stop myself, and so I had to pull myself towards the end of the zipline. But it wasn’t a big deal as one of our tour guides was very helpful. And, practice made it perfect! I was fine on the second one, through to the end of the last zipline 9we did 10 ziplines total!). I also love the fact that our tour guides were full of information and stories about the Blue Ridge Mountains in general. We talked about the types of trees and plants there were around us on our hikes, and more. It also makes for a fun experience when your tour guides are passionate about what they do – making sure that you are having the time of your life while on a zipline tour like this. So overall, I highly recommend it to anyone who just wants to get away and enjoy the mountains with some thrills! We went at the end of the summer as it was the only time we could fit in our busy schedules. But I think it will be lovelier in the Fall with the gorgeous autumn colors of the mountains. Still, we had a lot of fun and with this experience, I could say, my husband and I were literally “on Cloud 9” the whole time! It was such a blast! 🙂
