Just as we spring clean our homes, we also need to spring clean our face and bodies. As New Jersey skincare specialist Dr. Aurora DeJuliis explains, “Don’t assume that slathering on any moisturizer gives skin the hydration it needs. It’s not that simple. Moisturizers work in two ways, using two types of ingredients. There are humectants, such as hyaluronic acid and urea, and occlusives, such as paraffin. Humectants draw water from the lower levels of the skin – this comes from the water we drink – to rehydrate the upper levels of the skin, while occlusives have a barrier function to help lock in this moisture. It is especially important to pay attention to what type of moisturizer you are applying to your face”.
The following are products from Dr. DeJuliis’ skincare line that will give your body’s largest organ (your skin) the TLC it needs for a Spring tune up. I’m ready! 🙂
Chamomile Cleanser ($35) – This gentle cleanser contains key ingredients to hydrate delicate skin. Designed to thoroughly, yet gently, cleanse the skin, it contains chamomile and vitamins A and E to provide moisture and prevent irritation. Harsh environmental conditions with pollutants or irritated skin conditions can be soothed by this rebalancing cleanser.
Soft Papaya & Pumpkin Masque ($26) – This unique masque incorporates a special active papaya enzyme in a creme base to retexture and smooth the surface of the skin. Beeswax and avocado oil moisturize and hydrate to soften dry skin. Extracts of pumpkin seed and comfrey have clarifying and healing properties. Tapioca starch and Kaolin clay tighten the surface of the skin to clarify and condition. Japanese green tea acts as an anti-oxidant to reduce redness and irritation.
Complex C Moisturizer ($65) – This advanced vitamin C cream protects, hydrates, and conditions the skin without irritation. This formula also incorporates sodium chondroitin sulfate to calm redness and red marine algae to condition dull, sluggish skin. This moisturizer is good for all skin types.
