It never ceases to amaze me how technology continues to evolve day by day. I know some people don’t like changes but personally, and with our fast-paced, nonstop busy schedules, I don’t mind making changes if it means it’s going to help make my life easier! To me, an easier life means more quality time to spend with my loved ones!
And who wouldn’t like to save time and money? Say for example, on a doctor visit?
Yes, you can with the new Doctor On Demand!
What is Doctor On Demand?
You know, when I learned about Doctor On Demand, it reminded of the time when you can just call a doctor over the phone and the doctor comes to your home to examine you. This one is similar to that but you talk to the doctor electronically via your smartphone, tablet, and/or computer. With Doctor On Demand, you can have video visits with board-certified physicians and psychiatrists, and doctorate-level psychologists without leaving the comforts of your home! You don’t have to drive to the doctor’s office or urgent care which means, you are also saving on car fuel and that to me is one way to save money! Don’t you agree?
How does Doctor On Demand work and how much does it cost?
Simply download the free Doctor On Demand app or register online, provide a list of your symptoms, and you are instantly connected for a video visit with a doctor who is licensed in your state. Doctor On Demand doctors can diagnose and treat specific conditions like allergies & asthma, acne or other skin issues, and can provide prescription refills!
And as for saving time? The average wait time to see a Doctor On Demand physician is just 3 minutes! Now, compared to the national average wait time of 3 weeks when trying to see a primary care physician in person — that’s a whole lot better!
And as far as cost, medical visits are just $40 or less and Doctor On Demand is now covered by many health plans too! Your visit may be fully or partially covered by your health plan or employer.
Putting Doctor On Demand to the test
For the purpose of this review, I tested Doctor On Demand for myself. I’ll tell you, it was so easy. After signing up online at DoctorOnDemand.com and entering my personal and insurance information and the reason for my visit (which only took a couple of minutes!), I was able to talk to a real doctor via my Mac computer! Note that if you utilize the Doctor On Demand app using your desktop like I did, you must have Google Chrome and a front-facing camera. Otherwise, you can download the Doctor On Demand app on any of these devices and then registering for the app.

Here are some of the screenshots of my Doctor On Demand video visit. I just used my iPhone camera to take these photos, so excuse the grainy quality of the images.
Once you click the “Talk To A Doctor” button, you will immediately to be taken to this secret, which tells you exactly how much time you have to wait before your doctor visit. And then once the waiting time is up, it will warn you that “You’re next in line!”.
After that, the screen will tell you that the doctor is reviewing the chart and that “Your visit will begin shortly!”. Then a short pause and then you will be face to face on the video with your doctor like I did.
I look really serious in this photo, but this was when I was talking about my ‘symptoms’.
Overall, the visit with my doctor turned out well and my doctor was very knowledgeable and was able to answer all of my questions. I was very satisfied with this video visit and it’s something that I would definitely do again!
After I thank the doctor and hung up, a page will pop up asking you to rate your experience and I gave the doctor five stars. Time spent waiting for the doctor until it finished? Only 20 minutes total!
