Tips For Hosting a Fun and Festive Halloween Party

Every year around September, you are reminded that Halloween is quickly approaching your door, like a zombie wandering aimlessly around the town. All of the stores have signage and they begin to push mixed bags of candy for the upcoming holiday. This year, you have decided to take it to the next level and host a fun and festive Halloween party. To help you on your journey, here are some tips to get you started in the right direction.

Frightful Decorations

As people walk through your doors, decorations will tell them how serious you are about Halloween. So let loose and decorate your home in such a way that Frankenstein himself would give you two thumbs up. Do you prefer a touch of fright with a flair for the cute? Go with it! Or, you can go the creepy and gruesome route if that’s your thing.

Anything is fair game when it comes to decorating for Halloween. Just be sure to keep it fake. Nothing can spoil a party quicker than actual gross things showing up at your party. To keep this type of thing from happening, be sure to contact local professionals, like the ones you’ll find at Joshua’s Pest Control, to keep any real spiders, rats, mice or cockroaches from making an unscheduled appearance. This way, you and your guests can have a grand old time without having to scream and run for the hills.

Hauntingly Good Munchies

As cliche as it might be, abnormally colored drinks with odd embellishments are fun and frightful at the same time. For example, a blood orange or green witches brew punch adds character to any table for guests to enjoy. If you’re looking to up the ante, look for fun molds in your local craft store to add small or large blocks of ice in the shape of skulls or fingers to creep people out. As for food, the options are nearly limitless. Vampire bit red velvet cupcakes, jello molds with edible eyeballs inside and ghostly cookies are at your dessert disposal. For something a little more substantial, a stuffed brain meatloaf or skeleton meat platter is the way to go. You can check out these Halloween party ideas to really bolster your food game if you need some guidance. With this knowledge in hand, you can shock and surprise your friends and family members with super awesome things to eat and drink.

Spooktastic Games

Ah, party games  — entertainment at its best! Be sure to add in a few special events for people to enjoy. A bobbing competition is always a blast and you can also make time for a scavenger hunt for the kiddies. Or you can use your crafting skills to modify a normal game of cornhole to become a spider tossing extravaganza.

For the older guests in the audience, you can invite them to a fun and gross game of “guess what’s in the box.” No peeking please as you reach into a box filled with spaghetti, peeled grapes or canned peaches. Ugh, just imagine the responses as people reach into the concealed box and feel their way around. And if it’s an adults-only themed party, a murder mystery should never be left out of the equation.

Ghastly Goodie Bags

With the party coming to an end and guests starting to leave, it’s time to hand out goodie bags. It’s a simple way to thank guests for attending your little soiree. Ingredients can include anything from candy, small desserts and pictures from the event. Have them prepared beforehand so you can enjoy the party with your guests. And, if you’re taking and printing pictures during the party, just slip them in before you hand out the bags. Now everyone attending can have a little memento from your Halloween bash.

Halloween is one of the most fun holidays we have all year. Use these tips to help make sure your party is the one everybody talks about!
