9 Indicative Signs of Mental Breakdown You Should Watch Out For

If you think you’re being erratic or overwhelmed with things of late, it might indicate that you’re facing mental health issues. You might not be able to concentrate on work, or you may have developed some new and unusual phobias. It can affect your relationships, impact your work productivity and reduce your self-confidence. So it’s advisable to acknowledge that something’s wrong with your behavior and work on fixing it. Here nine ten indicative signs of mental breakdown you should not ignore.

You Feel Anxious All The Time

Do you find yourself getting anxious for no reason? Is your mind constantly racing and thinking about worst-case scenarios? If you’re feeling anxious all the time, it could indicate a mental breakdown.

Here is what you can do:

  • Take some time out for yourself every day and relax
  • Exercise regularly to release the feel-good hormone serotonin
  • Talk to a therapist to help you understand and manage your anxiety

Frequent Panic Attacks

If you have panic attacks that are so severe that they interfere with your work, social life, or sleep, it’s a sign that you need help.

Here’s what you can do:

  • Identify your triggers and try to avoid them.
  • Breathe deeply and slowly when you feel a panic attack coming on.
  • Research has shown that ketamines therapy is effective at reducing anxiety levels.

You Tend to Stay Alone

Humans are social beings. Sharing opinions, cracking jokes, and talking about things makes us feel light and maintain our mental balance. If you have this constant urge to distance yourself from people, this could indicate your mental health isn’t right. Consider spending more time with your friends or people who make you feel good.

Lack of Interest

One of the first signs of depression is losing interest in what you once loved. This can be anything from your favorite hobby to traveling. If you’re depressed, you might not feel like doing anything at all. This can further lead to a mental breakdown. Try to find things that make you happy and stick to them to avoid this.

You’ve Become a Workaholic

If you’re working all the time and can’t seem to take a break, it’s a sign that you’re heading for a mental breakdown. Working too much can lead to burnout, further impacting your mental health. It’s important to take some time out for yourself and relax. Consider going on vacation or taking a few days off from work every now and then.

You’ve Turned to Drugs or Alcohol

Using drugs or alcohol to cope with your problems will only worsen them. If you find yourself relying on substances to get through the day, it’s a sign that you need help. Talk to a therapist or counselor about your problem and find other ways to cope with your stress and anxiety.

Always Tired

If you’re constantly tired and have no energy to do anything, it could be a sign of depression or anxiety. When you’re depressed, you tend to sleep more than usual. This can further lead to a mental breakdown. Try to get at least eight hours of sleep every night and exercise regularly to avoid this.

You’ve Lost Your Appetite

Losing interest in food is one of the first signs of depression. If you’re not eating properly, it can lead to weight loss, fatigue, and other health problems. To avoid this, eat three meals a day and include healthy snacks in between.

You Experience Hallucinations

If you’re seeing or hearing things that are not really there, it’s a sign of a mental breakdown. This can be caused by sleep deprivation, stress, or underlying mental health issues. Talk to a psychiatrist or other licensed, clinical mental health professional.

Final Word

These are just some of the indicative signs of a mental breakdown. Mental health is just as important as physical health, so don’t hesitate to seek help if you need it.
