It’s back-to-school season and the shopping lists are quickly forming, but do you know the one item that many parents forget? Sunscreen.
In the summertime, parents are more diligent about protecting their families, but their attentiveness shouldn’t stop when the school bell rings.
That’s why I’m glad to be able to share these very helpful tips from Coppertone to make sure our kids are protected during the school day, including why sunscreen is vital even after the summer ends:
· Just one blistering sunburn in childhood can increase the chance of developing skin cancer later in life, according to the Skin Cancer Foundation.
· Recently several incidents were reported about children who were severely burned due to sunscreen bans in school.
· For the 2nd year, Coppertone has continued the Making the Sunscreen Grade program to empower parents and educators to be powerful role models for children and help make sun protection a priority during the school day.
· Pediatric Dermatologist Dr. Ana M. Duarte, Miami Children’s Hospital, is encouraging us parents to be sun protection super heroes and offers tips and ideas to help us be a role model and reinforce sun-sense for our families year-round.
