8 Clever Ways To Decorate With Burlap

Hello, friends! I have been finishing up a home decor project using burlap and it’s looking really great so far that I thought I’d share some other neat decor ideas using this fabric. I love the organic, natural look of burlap and what’s even better, it is very inexpensive! And even though most people think this fabric is more used in rustic, vintage or country style home decor, I found that there are many ways to use burlap to make your space chic and modern too!

Ready to bring a little burlap into your own home? Here are 8 lovely decor ideas using burlap that you can make or buy!  These are just ideas. You can always add your own personal touch or design to go with the overall theme and colors of your existing home or office decor. Enjoy! 🙂

DIY some monogram or French pillow covers (or buy them!)  Check out this post on how to stencil on burlap to make your own monogrammed burlap pillow cover

Use a burlap table runner to give your tabletop a natural, rustic look. You can easily buy the burlap fabric at your local fabric store to do this inexpensively.  Or buy one at Provisions by Food52 for $18

Make or buy a dual purpose burlap ottoman. How clever is this? You can hide clutter in your house temporarily in a stylish burlap seat storage ottoman like this one from Ballard Designs.  Seat + storage = what a neat concept!  Don’t want to shell out $279 on this? Frugal/DIY tip: there are tons of free online tutorial on how to paint/age wood (for the ottoman storage/box part) and how to make cushions using burlap (for the top/cover part).  It will take time and effort but if you’re up for the challenge, you can certainly make it as a home project!

Make a burlap photo display Shanty 2 Chic shows you how she made this one for only under $4!  Frugal + chic = awesome!

Make a wreath.  Bev at Flamingo Toes shows you how to make this sweet Valentine’s Day-inspired burlap wreath

Cover inexpensive glass with burlap as cute candle holders!  You can then use lace, buttons and bows to embellish your candle holder too. I love this one from JewelsBeadsAndBurlap on Etsy.

Organize memos and notes in your home, office (or even in the kitchen!) on a decorative burlap memo board like this one created by Beneath My Heart. Love the idea! Easy peasy and very inexpensive to DIY!

The possibilities are endless with using or incorporating burlap in your home or office decor. Have you done or created any home or office decor project using burlap?
