Everywhere I look, I see Christmas. There are decorations in stores, Black Friday ads everywhere and my Instagram feed is already packed with holiday posts. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love Christmas – it’s the most wonderful time of the year and my most favorite holiday of them all!
But what about fall? What about Thanksgiving? Because I love those too!
Here’s a quick fact: the last day of fall isn’t until December 21st! Okay, okay, by December 21st, I will definitely be in full Christmas mode too! But I am 100% not pushing aside fall just yet.
I want more pretty leaves! I want more apple packed baked goods! I want more pumpkin spice! So I’ll be over here enjoying the fall… who’s with me?!
By now, you all probably know how much I love to craft. Making things makes me happy. I especially love to make useful things. When I can craft something that I can then use to make my life better- a total win! Lately I have been making bath bombs which is one way I try to improve my self-care routine.
In addition to my love of crafting, I am also a strong supporter of making time to focusing on mental, emotional and physical health. What could be better for self-care than a warm, comforting bath?! Baths are soothing for your body and for your soul. It is time to pause and think (or pause and not think) while you soak your muscles and rejuvenate. Making and using bath bombs have made my baths just so much better! They add an effervescence to the water and cover your skin in wonderful essential oils that help moisturize while also smelling wonderful. Trust me- you need bath bombs in your life.
I’m really excited to share my pumpkin spice bath bomb recipe with you and show you how you can continue to celebrate fall in a fun and relaxing way. Pumpkin spice isn’t just for lattes you know. That wonderful, spicy scent is the perfect addition to a bath bomb! Making these fall-themed bath bombs is a great way to spend a cool afternoon and then you can use what you made to warm up in a restful bath! This is self-care at it’s finest! So let me show you how to achieve this fall-themed paradise of crafting and relaxing.
HOW TO MAKE PUMPKIN SPICE FALL BATH BOMBS
To start, you will need a fall themed silicone mold. Look for one shaped like leaves, pumpkin or even turkeys! Or course, a regular round mold will work as well. Baking powder, citric acid, cornstarch and Epsom salts are the first ingredients that will be mixed together. These are the main components of the bath bomb and all serve a purpose. The baking powder and citric acid will make the bombs fizzy while the Epsom salts are what will help sooth your body after a long day.
Coconut oil is added to the dry ingredients and mixed in well. Coconut oil will hold the bath bombs together and also add a natural moisturizer. It also smells pretty good on it’s own! But we want pumpkin spice bath bombs here so next we add our pumpkin pie oil. You can easily find this online or in a local craft store that sells essential oils. I have found that 20 drops is the perfect amount to make the bath bombs smell like fall but not make me feel like I’m turning into a pumpkin while I take a bath!
Next, the witch hazel is added very slowly by spray or dropper. You want to add it slowly so the moisture doesn’t activate the bath bomb and make it fizz before it actually gets to the bath. The slower the better!
Divide the mix and then stir in the different mica powdered colors. Mica colors are a natural way to make your bath bombs pretty and shimmery. They have also been found to be agreeable with almost all skin types so even those with sensitive skin can enjoy a bath bomb dyed with mica colors. I am also just a huge fan of that pretty shine!
The dyed bath bomb mix is layered into the mold and then they are left to dry for about a day. Pop the bombs out of the mold once they harden and you’re ready to enjoy your first pumpkin spice bath! Get ready to feel the fall love!

Pumpkin Spice Fall Bath Bombs
Ingredients
Materials:
Fall-themed silicone mold
2 cups baking powder
1 cup Citric acid
1 cup cornstarch
½ cup Epsom or sea salt
⅓ cup coconut oil, melted
20 drops pumpkin pie fragrance oil
Witch hazel, as needed
Mica mineral powders for coloring the bath bombs in your desired colors
large mixing bowl
small mixing bowl
spoons
pumpkin pie spice (optional)
Instructions
- Add the baking powder, citric acid, cornstarch and epsom salt to a bowl, and mix well until all lumps are gone.
- Pour the coconut oil and fragrance oil into the bowl with the dry ingredients and mix thoroughly until well combined.
- Slowly using a spray bottle, dropper or other tool, add a tad of witch hazel to the mixture at a time, stirring quickly in between. If you add too much witch hazel too quickly, it will cause the mixture to fizz and you will lose the desired effect in your finished bath bombs.
- Continue to add witch hazel to the mixture until it resembles slightly damp sand, and stays clumped together when squeezed in your hand.
- Separate the mixture into different bowls, and add mica mineral color powder to each one. Make as many bowls as you like in as many colors as you desire. Stir to combine the color evenly with the bath bomb mixture.
- If desired, place a bit of pumpkin pie spice into the bottom of some of the fall themed molds for decoration and added scent.
- Layer the different colored mixtures into the molds, stopping to press them down firmly and compact them often. Fill them completely full and set aside for 12-24 hours to dry and set.
- The bath bombs should release easily from the silicone molds when ready.
