One of my most awkward and embarrassing childhood moment was when I was 12 and learning that I am going to start having my monthly period. I remember waking up early morning for school one day and felt something funny in my undies so I ran to the bathroom and saw blood coming out. I panicked of course and had a moment of hesitation before I told my mother about it. I felt so awkward and uncomfortable about it that I ended up skipping school that day. My mother comforted me by saying that it's just part of growing up and becoming a woman and that every girl has to go through it.
The topic of menstruation never fails to make girls feel embarrassed and uncomfortable. As parents, we can help make our teens feel confident and at ease asking questions about menstruation and other women's health issues and make them understand that having their period is no big deal. Open conversations can eliminate your daughter's use of euphemisms like "that time of the month" and help them overcome the awkwardness associated with puberty and menstruation.

I'm Going to the "From Hamper to Hanger-Bosch Blogger Retreat"! :)
I'm really psyched about going to Scottsdale, Arizona on Tuesday to be at the "From Hamper to Hanger-Bosch Blogger Retreat"! :)
Yes, I feel very elated to have been invited by Bosch Home Appliances- along with 11 other fabulous mom bloggers nationwide- to attend this exciting blogger event happening on April 27th through April 29th, 2010 in beautiful Scottsdale, Arizona.
Bosch Home Appliances, with the help of the organizational experts at The Container Store, will be offering us moms tips to simplify our laundry time- from hamper to hanger. The ultimate goal of this retreat is to help busy moms spend less time worrying about dirty laundry and more time with our family. I mean, an insanely busy working mom like me with two small kids and a pre-teen, how could I say no? Just what I really need! Seriously. :)
So I'm very excited to be part of this event where I also get to meet new mom blogging friends. I'm sure I'll be learning a lot from this valuable experience and I can't wait to share them with you all here on Hip Mama's Place when I get back.
Anyway, a few highlights of this blogger retreat will include:

And to top it all off, we will be pampered at the resort’s world class spa! I mean, how awesome is this? :)

Two New and Notable Fitness DVDs: Jillian Michaels Yoga Meltdown and Fame Dance Workout (Reviews and Giveaways!)
I completely agree when they say that Jillian Michaels is tv's toughest personal trainer. She maybe tough but I can honestly say, she's been a huge motivation in my resolution to get fitter and leaner this year. I LOVE my two Jillian Michaels workout DVDs (30 Day Shred and No More Trouble Zones) which I bought three months ago. I always feel like I have a real personal trainer guiding me throughout the whole DVD workout sessions.

Since my main problem is my abs, this workout DVD is just perfect for me! I felt good the first time I used this DVD and I've since added this to my weekly fitness routine. Cottonelle's Big Roll Poll: OVER or UNDER?
Cottonelle recently conducted a survey to find out the answer to the big question: do you roll your toilet paper OVER or UNDER? The results in this big debate didn't surprise me: 70% of Americans polled say they roll over! 
In my family, we definitely roll over. I mean, it's just right to do it that way. It eliminates the problem of extra paper ending up in the bathroom floor and of course, it's just easier and looks better that way. So for the other 30% of people polled who said they rolled under, you should all try switching to roll over. I'd say, it's just the right way. :)

Quench Your Child's Thirst For Summer Adventures at KinderCare's Summer Camp Program
It's amazing how time just flies by. Now it's March and if you're anything like me, you're probably already thinking about how you want your kids to spend their summers. While there are play-dates and weekend trips with families and friends, it's nice to know that there are other options out there for our kids to have fun and engaging activities.
So I was told about KinderCare Summer Camp.
Realizing how much kids crave summer adventures as it enables them to engage in a variety of activities, KinderCare Summer Camp surveyed nearly 3,000 kids to see how they would like to spend their summers. So what exactly did kids want? It turns out they had some strong ideas- they wanted adventures, arts and crafts, and trips- activities which often fall beyond the reach of busy Moms.
KinderCare responded by partnering with teachers to design a nationwide summer camp program to provide kids with new and interesting activities pertaining to their interests. They developed 12 unique week-long day camps with themes including Wild, Wild West, Wilderness 101, Dig Ancient Egypt, You've Got Talent!, Puppeteer Road Show, Gross & Gooey Science, Spectacular Sports, Animal Antics, Science Adventures, Art Expo, Kids' Kitchen, Splish Splash, Surfs Up!, and Everyday Heroes. Whether you have an avid athlete, a budding scientist, or both, they can find something cool within KinderCare's Summer Camps to engage their time. The weeklong timeframe of the camps also gives Moms the flexibility to sign their kids up for as few or many sessions as they'd like.

My kids have never been enrolled in a summer camp anywhere. L'Occitane Shea Butter Skin Care Review

Shea Butter Hand Cream by L'Occitane is really amazing. It's so light and yet, so luxurious on my hands. The consistency of the cream is not at all thick or greasy. Best of all, it pampers and dehydrates my sometimes extremely dry skin. I highly recommend this stuff for more beautiful, more moisturized hands!
